Types of compact foundations

Compact foundations are ideal for oily skin, as they provide a velvety and natural finish to the skin. Compact foundations perfectly camouflage the darkest spots on the face. They usually contain a sponge that makes their application easier and we can find them in various textures:

• Compact powder foundation : ideal for oily or shiny skin. It helps makeup last longer and eliminates shine from the face. It has a slightly dense texture and provides a completely matte finish.
• Compact cream foundation : This type of foundation also works as a concealer, correcting any spots or blemishes. It is recommended for dry or combination skin.

How to apply a compact foundation correctly

To apply foundation correctly and ensure it adheres properly to your face, you should exfoliate your skin regularly. You should also moisturise your face properly to prevent it from drying out and to ensure that the products are applied evenly.

To properly spread the product, there are different tools that will make this task easier. Below, we indicate the most commonly used ones:

• Sponges : They are perfect for covering the surface of the face better, but it is more difficult to achieve a perfect finish. If we moisten the sponge a little before using it, the application will be smoother and easier.
• Factory applicators : these are usually included in compact powder foundations and are designed to facilitate the application of the product in question.
• Foundation brushes : These are brushes designed specifically for applying makeup and makeup-related products. They come in various shapes and sizes, depending on the result we want to achieve on our face. They are ideal for achieving the desired finish without much effort.
• Beauty Blenders : are a type of sponge that has a specific design to achieve a perfect makeup finish. They allow you to apply the product to the most difficult areas and are perfect for fluid foundations.
• Fingers : due to body heat, applying the product with your hands makes it much more fluid, providing a more natural and light result to our face.

Once we have chosen the foundation we want to use and the most suitable tool to apply the product, we can begin the process.

• Any foundation, regardless of the application tool (sponge, brush, hands, etc.) and texture (liquid, compact, mousse, etc.), should be applied from the center of the face outwards to achieve a perfectly even tone without streaks.
• It is very important to avoid applying the product in areas such as the eyelids, in order to avoid the extra contribution of fat, and to facilitate the application of eye shadows, eyeliners and/or mascaras.
• Finally, we recommend applying a thin layer of powder to mattify the finish and set it for longer.
